Why isn’t there ever any advertisements for open source software?

How come we never see any commercials or bus ads for open source software? You can’t argue with FREE. I was thinking about advertising Open Office at my college the other day. If I were to put an ad for OpenOffice 3 on a billboard, would I get in trouble? Someone needs to build awareness of the existence of open source alternatives.
OpenOffice 3 – Another reason to tell Microsoft to suck it.

This is going on the billboard (if I can get away with it)

How much money do you think they make off of FREE software?

Not much.

How much does advertising cost?

A lot.

open source apps is for sharing they don’t advertise coz advertisements coast money and being a freeware there’s no money coming in, so people who uses it has to share it with others by word of mouth, you can;t sell them coz that’s illegal giving them away for free is not and you help the community,

there are lots of freebies out there you just need to know where to look, the best things in life are FREE
