Where can I find information on what government agencies have switched to OpenSource software (with $ amounts)?

Who has switched, at what cost? Also, any usage statistics for opensource software world wide appreciated.

I don’t think it’s published anywhere. You would need to make big assumptions to come up with estimates. However, some countries have excluded Microsoft and are focusing on Open Source software. One problem is the fact that Open Source is disjointed. It is often hard to find simple support and answers to questions. You can waste many hours.

To most big businesses and most governments, paying a royalty to Microsoft for their documentation and support (quick answers), is well worth the slight added expense. What’s the total cost of ownership?

(I’m a Microsoft stock owner, by the way.)
