Please Explain Me How Does The Free Software And Opensource Companies Earn Money ???

please dont say me like just suppporting the FS r Open Software … i dont understand what thy mean :(

well, they usuaully get some money from advertisements and sponsors. but most of the time, they give u a good free software, so people can use it, and by doing this, they are making a name for their company, and then they come up with other softwares that arent free, so people would pay for them since they’ve liked their free and opensource software

Most of them are either maintained by volunteers or survive off donations. one important thing to note is that by open source it just means it is protected under the gpl lisence, basically gpl means that anone is free to take the product and modify if however they want, but it must remain under the gpl liscence and cannot be patented, another thing to note is that some open source products do actually cost money, this particular type of freedom is more like freedom of speech than actually being given something free
