Is there any way to use Limewire so that your computer doesn’t get completely fried?
Everytime I use Limewire I end up with Trojans all over the place. My friend told me that the reason was because Limewire is opensource, it opens your computer up to sharing files with other computers.
However, I don’t want to pay $1/song for my iPod, so is there any safe way to use Limewire so I don’t get viruses?

Don’t use it at all. :/
You could always have a friend download songs for you, burn them to a disk and then upload them to your iTunes library.
If you do download a song, try playing it before doing anything else. If it doesn’t play at all or opens up something, chances are it’s a virus of some sort.
Just don’t download anything that looks suspicious, like if you were looking for No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age, and there was one that said “Queens of the Stone Age – No One Knows” and “no one knows queens of the stoneage” you’d pick the first one.
I’ve learned that if your going to use any filesharing program like limewire it pays to have a good anti-virus program on your computer
There’s no such thing as a risk free crime. You can buy music and be assured it’s safe, or you can steal it and take your chances with viruses, identity theft, fraud, and lawsuits and criminal charges for illegal downloading. The choice is yours.
