Is there an open source network monitor software that can capture packets from a wireless router? even though?

Even thought not connected to the wireless router? Is there an open source program that can do this. I know of several programs that capture packets, but you actually have to be connected to the wireless router.. When i say connected i’m not mean physically i mean connecting by putting the wep or wap key. I want to capture packets from my laptop.

The WEP key encrypts the packet. you need the key to make sense of the data. Google “packet sniffer” you might find a free one.
