Why are you insistent on open-source?
Well anyhow, the only open-source AV that I’m aware of is ClamWin.
It is *on-demand* only, meaning that it will scan and remove, but you must update it and scan manually, and it gives no *real-time* protection.

If you would like to install a *real-time* antivirus, I use and recommend Avast v4.8 Home Edition:

Edit: Kaspersky as suggested below is an excellent program, but is not free.
try avg
u can download the kaspersky antivirus 2008.open ur search engine and search 4 it.after downloading it install it and dont forget to update it to the present date.den scan ur computer.all ur virues will be deleted…
1. turn off system restore
2. re boot in safe mode with networking.
3. do a free online scan:

4 re boot & turn on system restore.
If your still having problems e mail me.
Clamwin is crap, as the first answerer has posted.
If you need a half decent antivirus remover, Avira or Avast will get the job done.
However if you need better protection, I’d suggest a commercial AV like Kaspersky. It’ll set you back around $55 for a 1 year subscription.
AVAST 4.8 pro/home(home edition is free)
avast! is a package of applications that aim to protect your computer from a possible virus infection. If you use it correctly, periodically, and in coordination with other programs such as data backup utilities, it should ensure that you radically reduce the risk of your computer being infected by a virus, and thus avoid losing your private data.
