How Do Opensource Groups Make Money. For The Ones That Dont Charge Anything For Their Stuff?

Is it just a hobby thing or a resume thing for them

They make their money on training and support. The software is free, but if you need professional corporate help you have to pay for it.

Yes, most of the open source groups don’t get anything and are programming just because it’s their hobby.
But some of them accept donations (for example via PayPal) so that you can support them if you want to.
