How Can I Convert My Video Files To Ogg Theora?

I want to convert all of my video files from dat , avi and mpg to ogg theora because it is very compressed and opensource!
If you show me a Linux opensource software will be better , because I used to use linux as my main OS and MS windows is my second OS!

    Virtualdub is a great program that will do that, however they only currently support MS Windows (95+).
    You can also check out the website vcdhelp.com. They’ve got some great forums and links to downloads.
