can i use microsoft works with vista – the tech requirements don’t mention vista? If not will opensource work?

I’m not an expert so I apologize for not giving you a better answer. It’s my under standing there are several flavors of MS Works and each has it’s own system requirements:

But Vista has a Compatibility Mode feature that supposedly lets you use programs originally designed as far back as Windows 95:

Sometimes the best way to see if it’s compatible is to check with the experts. However, Microsoft once told me one of their products would be compatible with my XP and it wasn’t:

And as far as open source is concerned, Open Office is supposed to be Vista compatible. Since it’s free it probably wouldn’t hurt to download it and give it a try.
