hexeliebe is right, Open Source software does have limits.
Take Virtuemart and Zen Cart for instance. These two e-commerce carts are open source and distinctly meant for commercial purposes.
Wiki says it well, defining ‘open source’; “The term is most commonly applied to the source code of software that is available to the general public with relaxed or non-existent intellectual property restrictions.”
Some GPL(General Public License) proprietary governed software has subdivisions of ‘Copylefted’ and ‘Non-Copylefted’. If open source software is ‘Non-Copylefted’ and distributed by another modifying author(s), additional restrictions can be placed upon it. Rarely is the case though, but it can happen.http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/categories…
Open source does not necessarily mean free for all uses. You need to read the GPL documents accompanying the software to insure it is open for commercial use.
I believe that’s the purpose of open source, so you can use it without paying.
