I’m looking for a software that will allow me to make a website without HTML. I can write in HTML, but I’m not as creative with it because I need to see what I’m doing as I do it. Thanks.

OK I used the Trial version of Mailwasher Pro for my non web-based email but the time has expired and I am looking for a freeware replacement. It needs to be able to allow me to view the emails and assign an entire domain to a blacklist or mark as safe then it will bounce or at minimum delete the mail before downloading to my local drive. Mailwasher has been the perfect solution however I am looking for freeware or opensource options. Any suggestions?

Do you remember SplashTop? It’s the instant-on Linux environment that was originally embedded into select ASUS motherboards three years ago and from there worked its way to other motherboards and then onto notebooks and other devices from a variety of vendors. We effectively launched SplashTop for DeviceVM, the company behind this instant-on Linux distribution, when we got our hands on SplashTop early and were the first in the world to provide a detailed analysis of SplashTop. It was one of our most popular articles that year and of over the past six and a half years that Phoronix has been around.

For whatever reason, flames are neat looking. I’ll leave it to psychologists to explain exactly why that is. All I know is that things on fire usually look cooler than things not on fire. To me, that also includes my wallpaper. As regular readers may know, I like to create my own abstract wallpapers and I’m a fan of the Gimp. Today we’re going to use Gimp to create flame wallpaper for your desktop. This process will work on any system that can run Gimp (Windows, Linux, OSX) without any additional plugins or textures.

Mozilla has pushed back the planned release of Firefox to sometime in “early 2011.” Previously, the open source outfit had said its latest desktop browser would be officially released next month.
“As discussed in today’s Firefox delivery meeting, release candidate builds are now scheduled to ship in early 2011, with the final GA release shortly after,” a Mozilla representative tells The Register. The new Firefox 4 release schedule can be found here.
Firefox 4 is now in its sixth beta release. Beta 7 — the “feature complete” beta — was due on September 17, but according to Mozilla’s schedule, it will not arrive until November.

The Russian state plans to revamp its computer services with a Windows rival to reduce its dependence on US giant Microsoft and better monitor computer security, a lawmaker said Wednesday.
Moscow will earmark 150 million rubles (3.5 million euros, 4.9 million dollars) to develop a national software system based on the Linux operating system, Russian deputy Ilia Ponomarev told AFP, confirming an earlier report in the Vedomosti daily.
