My first brush with mouse gestures on the Opera browser was an accident, but the ability to quickly move backward or forward in the browser history, open new windows, close tabs, and more without using the menus or moving the mouse toward the navigation toolbar won me over immediately. Nowadays, this feature is available in Firefox and Konqueror too, and you can even configure mouse gestures for GNOME and KDE desktop environments.

Nagios (formerly Netsaint) is a daemon written in C that is designed
to monitor networked hosts and services. It has the ability to notify

are resolved. Host and service checks are performed by external

LibTorrent is a BitTorrent library written in C++
for Unix. It is designed to avoid the redundant
buffers and data copying that most (all?) other
BitTorrent implementations suffer from. The
library is single-threaded and the client handles
the select loop. An interactive ncurses client is
included as an example.
